Pismo Grand Opening a Great Success!

The Grand Opening celebration of our new Verizon Wireless Pismo Location was a hit! We were honored to have City of Pismo Beach Council member and Mayor Pro Tem Ed Waage in attendance. Members of the Pismo Chamber of Commerce came out to do an official ribbon cutting.

After the ribbon cutting, we shared a barbeque lunch, socialized and enjoyed showing off the new store. A big thank you goes out to our Inventory Manager Lucy and her husband Terry for cooking!  We appreciate them so much.

There was a lot of talk about the upcoming launch of the Samsung Galaxy S4.  Lucky for us, our Samsung field sales manager Caitlyn was on hand to answer questions. Thanks Caitlyn! Central coast country station KJUG 98.1FM was on site broadcasting.  Local DJ Pepper Daniels did a great job spreading the word about our new home in Pismo Coast Shopping Plaza, since our recent move from OSH/Ross Center on Oak Park Road in Pismo.

The first six customers who activated a new line of service were lucky enough to receive $35 in Verizon Wireless bill credits.  Also, everyone who attended the event was able to register to win a 4G HTC Incredible 2 smartphone, plus a fantastic package of accessories. 2012′s Best Smartphones

Best Verizon Smartphones of 2012
The mobile industry changed dramatically again in 2012, most notably with smartphone ownership exceeding 50% for the first time ever. Let’s take a look at the most impressive smartphones, brought to us by Verizon in 2012.

HTC DROID DNA
Released in late November, the DNA features a 5-inch Super LCD3 display with 1080p HD resolution, a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, an 8-megapixel camera and a 2,020 mAh battery. The DROID DNA is also one of the few handsets on the market that ships with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

iPhone 5
Apple launched the sixth version of the popular iPhone line of handsets in 2012.  More than 5 million sold during the first three days of availability.

iPhone 5 will likely continue to be a best-seller for a variety of reasons. The very thin new unibody aluminum design, the larger 4-inch Retina display, 8-megapixel iSight camera and the dual-core A6 processor that makes the iPhone 5 Apple’s fastest iPhone yet.

Samsung Galaxy S III
The best selling Android smartphone yet, the Galaxy has shipped more units than any other Google powered handset. Until the Galaxy S IV launches next year. 30 million units were sold in the first 150 days on the market.

The Galaxy S III features a 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display with 720p resolution, dual-core processor, an 8-megapixel camera, a 2,100 mAh battery and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Samsung’s TouchWiz interface and accompanying features make the Galaxy S III one of the best smartphones released in 2012.

 

HTC Windows Phone 8X
Verizon picked up the HTC Windows Phone 8X right out of the gate. The hardware features a great ergonomic shape and a unique soft-touch feel. The software runs smoothly, with apps opening instantly.   The phone also features wireless charging capability, Beats Audio and more.

Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX HD
The MAXX HD isn’t your average smartphone. Featuring a big, bright 4.7-inch Super AMOLED display with 720p resolution, the dual-core 1.5GHz processor, the 8-megapixel camera and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, this phone packs a 3,300 mAh battery despite being only 9.3 millimeters thick. Using Motorola’s awesome Smart Actions software, the MAXX HD can last about twice as long as other leading smartphones on a single charge.

Buellton Verizon Grand Opening a Smash Success!

The Grand Opening celebration of our new Verizon Wireless Buellton location this past Saturday was a great success! Executive Director Kathy Vreeland and members of the Buellton Chamber of Commerce came out to do the official ribbon cutting. Representing the City of Buellton, we were pleased and honored to have Mayor Holly Sierra, Vice Mayor Dave King and City Council Member Judith Dale in attendance.

After the ribbon cutting, there was opportunity to autograph the ribbon, socialize and learn more about the new store.  The recent launch of the new iPhone 5 was a topic under much discussion, naturally! Our favorite valley country station KRAZy Country 105.9 FM was on site, broadcasting live and helping us to gain the attention of visitors to the center and nearby Albertsons.  Local DJ Tyler Storey did a great job telling listeners all about our new location in Buellton  and why they should quit driving out of town when they have a Verizon Wireless resource right in their hometown. Delicious taquitos and burritos were provided by our neighbor Rudy’s Mexican Restaurant. One great benefit of attending the opening was the $35 in Verizon Wireless bill credits that customers who activated a new line received. Goleta Phone & Wireless to Benefit Page Youth Center this Saturday

This Saturday, June 2nd, from 1-5 in the afternoon, Goleta Phone & Wireless will be participating in the Calle Real Shopping Center’s first annual Caring & Sharing Event.

The center will be transformed into a non-profit showcase and neighborhood party, with many of the merchants in the center sharing their storefronts with non-profits, providing them a venue to show what they do, and why they are so valuable to our community.

Goleta Phone & Wireless will be partnering with the Page Youth Center, a local youth sports facility with the mission of building character, self-confidence, physical fitness and sportsmanship. A portion of Saturday’s sales will benefit the center.

In addition to educational opportunities, there will be fun activities for the whole family, including music, a photo booth, balloon animals, a SB County fire truck, animal rescue and adoptions, food samples from center restaurants and much more.

Over 30 merchants are participating, and visitors can play the “Find the Hidden Letters” game to enter a drawing for great prizes! There are over $1500 worth of certificates, gifts and discount coupons that will be given away to those who enter and play.

DROID RAZR™ Available this Friday: 11-11-11

The all new DROID RAZR™ will be available at Phone & Wireless locations this Friday November 11^th – just in time to celebrate the two-year anniversary of the original DROID by Motorola.

The Motorola DROID RAZR features top-of-the-line specs, and it somehow fits it all into one of the thinnest and lightest smartphone cases around – a slim 7.1 millimeters thin. Features include a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, a 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED display, 1GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel camera with 1080p HD video capture, an LED flash, 1.3 front-facing camera for video chat, an HDMI-out port, noise cancellation capabilities, 16GB of built-in storage and a 16GB microSD card pre-installed.

Reviews from popular tech sites report that touch-sensitivity on the handset is “excellent and incredibly responsive”, and the whole package is protected by a rugged construction of Gorilla Glass and a metal case with Kevlar backing.

In response to the common complaint that smart phones eat up battery life too quickly, a new software feature to address this is included on the RAZR – Motorola’s Smart Actions app. Smart Actions lets you specify different actions for your phone to automatically perform based on locations.  For instance, if you don’t use Bluetooth when you’re at home, you can set the RAZR to turn that function off whenever you arrive at your home address.

Besides being location based, you can also set these actions on parameters like when the phone reaches a certain battery percentage. One of the suggested configurations is to have your display dim, turn off GPS, and turn off background syncing when your phone’s battery is at 20% or lower. Motorola claims that using Smart Actions can extend your battery life by up to 30%.

The DROID RAZR also offers government-grade encryption for email, contacts and calendar, voice and video conferencing, which may be particularly appealing for business use.

The Motorola DROID RAZR will be available at Phone & Wireless locations this Friday, November 11th at for $299.99 on contract with Verizon Wireless. Verizon is offering a limited time promotion for those activating new 4G smartphones, including the RAZR.  Sign up for the 2GB monthly data plan for $30, and receive the 4GB data plan – double your data.

Another great incentive: Verizon Wireless said in a press release today that DROID RAZR customers can enjoy access to NFL Mobile at no additional cost for the remainder of the season.
